Privacy
Privacy is a core part of PURPOSE, not an add-on. Here's exactly how it works, in plain language.
Where your writing is stored
Your journal entries, answers, goals, intentions and settings are saved in your browser's local storage, on the device you're using. They are not sent to PoorBoi or to anyone else.
Because of that, there's no account and nothing to log in to. It also means your data doesn't sync between devices or browsers.
What this means for you
Your entries can be lost if you clear your browser data, use a private or incognito window, uninstall the browser, or switch devices. Download a backup from Settings if your entries matter to you.
Local storage is not a secure vault and is not encrypted by PURPOSE. Anyone who can use this browser profile could read it. Please don't treat it as a safe place for highly sensitive disclosures, and consider a shared device carefully.
What we don't do
No advertising, no selling or sharing of your information, no analytics on what you write, and no AI services processing your entries.
If you type words related to crisis or self-harm, PURPOSE may gently show support resources. That check happens only inside your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Hosting
Like any website, the server that delivers PURPOSE may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and reliability. Those logs never contain your journal, because your journal never leaves your browser.
Your control
You can export everything as a text file or a JSON backup, and delete all of it at any time, from Settings.
A note on support
PURPOSE is a free journaling and encouragement tool. It isn't therapy, medical advice or a crisis service, and it can't respond to what you write. Find support and crisis lines.
